I landed my first flying job (instructing) immediately out of college. Took a week off and then started teaching.
First (only, thankfully) airline gig after about six months of instructing...tossed some resumes out, got a couple calls, three interviews, went to the first class date.
Lucked into this job from knowing the right people, spent about two months getting it all set up, left the airlines, never looked back.
I was going off what my Father is roughly spending. My Wife and I dated 11 years before we got married and saved that entire time. We were able to put a lot more down payment on our home, etc..
We have no debt with the exception of our mortgage. In this area with the cost of living so high, we are still only spending about $1600 a month between the two of us.
From looking at homes down there I am confident I can get a mortgage in Palm Coast for less than $400 a month. We should also have disposable income as we would rent the home we have now. We put so much down on it that our current mortgage, compared to rent prices in the area, we would come up without about $400 to $500 extra disposable a month. That is taking out fees, upkeep, expenses, etc.. We would actually have about $1000 extra but would have to use a leasing company, and put money aside for potential fridge/ washer dryer stuff going bad and needing replaced.
$1500 wouldn't be comfortable, but in our particular case, would manage fine I think.
