Also, longevity is for pay/benefits whereas seniority is for bidding power. Take my case as an example. I am a vol furloughee with active pilots junior to me at UAL now. They have been accruing longevity while I have not. But, when I do return, I will be senior to them for bidding while they will be on a higher pay scale.
Seems like the most reasonable definition to me. Not sure that is how the L-UAL ISL was constructed.
