But they would have to still type new hire FOs at both airlines so that is a wash. Also at least 70% of the captain vacancies at Eagle go to upgrades. Meaning that if they brought in 2 airplanes and required 10 Captains to staff these said airplanes, at least 7 of the captain vacancies would go to current FO and a maximum of 3 to current captains. Of course if they are displacing then you are awarded the bid to immediately lose it as you are displaced. At Eagle they run vacancy bids first and then they displace, all in the same bid but run in that order.
The way the contract is written is for Eagle to be re fleeted with minimal raining cycles. FO can't bid from the ERJ to the CRJ so they would have to wait to be displaced or get an upgrade, and the way management has set up is for attrition to cover most of the reductions. So the guys that are going form the ERJ to the CRJ would be due to upgrades and they have to be trained anyway meanwhile their FO ERJ slot is not backfilled.
Does PSA have a short upgrade program or do they have attend an entire course when they upgrade?
