There's a story, dunno if it's true or not, of a NWA DC-9 captain who managed to fly the last 20 years or so of his career without leaving the state of Michigan. CDO after CDO. It was just.... HIS THING.
I'd like a little more variety, but I just think that dude was hilarious.
CDOs went fairly senior at NWA. And it would've been possible for him to do so at a time with places like FNT, TVC, MBS, GRR, etc. Lots of guys liked them as they reported late and finished early. If you lived in base, they were a really good deal. A lot of guys were upset when they went away.
