The counter argument will be that the 600 hired was less than the retirements at Cal during that period, and resulted in a net job loss/shrink. I don't know how many Cal pilots retired in 2007-2008, but I know we hired, and even when Age 65 was enacted on Dec 12, 2007 we didn't furlough. In fact, Cal hired another 109 pilots between Dec 12, 2007 and the last class on May 6, 2008. None were furloughed.
OTOH, how many UAL pilots have retired since 2007, how many were hired and how long did they stay on property?
Didn't CAL furlough 300 for a bit after 2008?
