The bigger issue is NOT the trains but the HUGE expansion in belly capacity for widebody airlines spanning the globe. The package carriers will try and utilize this as Boeing delivers countless B-777s and A-380sto Asian and ME carriers which have very dependable schedules and on time performance. Fed Ex has slowed down considerably its Asian expansion due to higher utilization of passenger aircraft belly space. UPS is a little slower to the trend but will start to realize its efficiency and continue the trend. DHL has been utilizing this model for decades. Global freight is at a big slump now with all this added belly space in the global system.
