If you're referring to the JCBA, yes it is/was insulting. With ratification it stopped the continued downsizing of the UAL side and growth on the CAL side. Jeff and JP expected it to fail and played the wrong play in trying to delay the JCBA. The UAL side won in protecting Captain seats that would have devastated some careers.
What improvements over the JCBA do you think we would have achieved by voting it down? Any guess as to the time it would have taken given the Jeff and CAL side had not desire for a contract?
With all due respect, I think you underestimate Jeff. He didn't expect or want the JCBA to fail. Why do you think you guys have been whipsawed so much the last three years? IMHO, management's plan from the start was to screw over the larger subsidiary so a majority of pilots would feel compelled to vote in a sub-standard contract.
I know there's been a lot of talk about Pierce being the puppet master who manipulated the JCBA negotiations for our SLI benefit. Maybe that's true to an extent (I honestly don't know), but Pierce has been playing checkers while Jeff Smisek was playing chess. Ignore him at your peril.
