Yeah, I have an engineering degree and instruct at one of these universities that will likely get the exemption soon. How does it make any sense that I'm qualified to teach a commercial ground school class and instruct in the airplane for students that will qualify for the exemption, but I can't qualify myself lol? And a year ago everyone would carry on about how useless and what a joke a degree in aviation is...

I'm of the opinion that it should be either 1000 for everyone or 1500 for everyone. The military exemption is OK, because their training is miles above any part 141 or 61 school, and they get qual'd right into heavy and/or high performance equipment. Also, the only military aviators that would likely even need to take advantage of the rule are the occasional guard/reserve pilot.
