I see chatter's point. When ALPA starts negotiating for one demographic (commuters) at the expense of another (non-commuters), it gets ugly in a hurry.
What if DALPA does a head count, and it turns out more than 50% of the pilot group are commuters?
Should that Majority then give up stuff in future contracts, for the Minority?
It is the same arguement with improving reserve QOL; if only 20% of the pilot group sits reserve, should 80% give up stuff to improve the QOL for only 20%?
Personally, I say yes. Why?
Just because you are not a commuter (or on reserve) today, doesn't mean you won't be tomorrow.
