First off, I don't think we are too far apart. I do not - repeat, do not want a system that enables the senior guy to routinely take a month off if the junior guy is working his butt off.
I don't mind a system where the senior guy gets to take the month off if the junior guy only works 7 days of the month. (above example).
Secondly, I hope this will shortly become a mostly academic argument as continuous movement starts (after being stalled at the bottom half of the list for 12 years) and no one stays junior on reserve more than a month or two in the NB FO position, which is really the only positions system-wide where being junior is not a choice.
