Are you saying its not fair that the senior guy gets a very easy month and the junior guy only gets an easy month?

Secondly, I hope this will shortly become a mostly academic argument as continuous movement starts (after being stalled at the bottom half of the list for 12 years) and no one stays junior on reserve more than a month or two in the NB FO position, which is really the only positions system-wide where being junior is not a choice.

Sorry, not sure what you are saying there in bold. I was just saying that it's OK in my book if the junior guy gets into bucket two (say 7-8 days of flying), and sits there the rest of the month. Because that would entail the senior guy sitting all month two (in bucket 2 or bucket 1). And I agree with those who've stated it several times--the SC buckets being separate from the LC buckets is completely nuts. I'll add that I was a strong advocate for shrinking the bucket values to allow a pilot to get into bucket 2 sooner when they were introduced over a year ago. I'm still of that opinion due to the SC buckets being separate. Work the SC buckets into the same mix as LC buckets somehow and the current values are more reasonable, IMO.
