Now one thing that kills me is there are 4 guys I have met the last couple of months that commute from SLC to SEA. Three guys could fly the same equipment in SLC as SEA and the other just did not want to be a 320 Capt anymore, so being a commuting 330 FO was a better life? I don't know their full life story, maybe not happy at home so that extra night or two away is great, but I hate that. I am about QOL and hate to commute, but do it with the hope of it being short term. Now if it continues to not be short term, this is not the only job out there. Mind you it is a good job, but not one I'm willing to lose QOL over.

There's about to be a lot more commuters from SLC as they draw down the 7ER category. As for the 320 Capt., was he on reserve? It's a lot more "family friendly" to be a senior FO with every weekend and holiday off as opposed to working all of them as a reserve Capt. with no life, doing summertime transcons in an airplane that can't climb above FL310. In related news, the initial routes for the 737-900 are to be ATL-LAX and DTW-SFO. Ouch! The commuters are really going to miss that roomy 757 cockpit jumpseat.
