Trying to start an effective in house UNION will be significantly more expensive than if you folks certified ALPA.
If you Bring ALPA on, you will immediately have immense resources at you disposal that you will not have with an in house.

With ALPA you will have from day 1:
1 A legal staff second to none in the aviation field.
2. An aeromedical staff second to none.
3. A professional Communications and PR staff
4. An Aviation Safety/Accident Investigation dept second to none
5. Experts in Retirement/Insurance, Scheduling, Safety, Railway Labor act 2nd to none
6. And the "Only" Professional Pilot Lobby in Wash DC

Having been there and done that with an independent, I have witnessed the true cost.
Trying to hire or outsource the above work is very expensive and will take enormous amounts of capital $$ upfront. It took us many years to figure that out and wasted a lot of time and money, before we figured out that ALPA was really the answer. ALPA has it's faults but so does any organization.

You folks will elect your own Pilots to be Union Leaders. The key is to elect Good people. You will no doubt elect the same Pilots whether ALPA is on property or some other entity. You folks will elect them.
You folks will tell them what you want. Good folks will do a good job.........and Bads folks will do a bad job. Give your elected leaders the best tools to get you guys a contract. ALPA is your best shot, im my opinion
