If the "Peoples best interest" is trully the mission of our govnmt, then WHY am I paying almost $4/Gal. when fuel demand is DOWN 8% from the last 5 years, and oil is NOW the US's #1 export product??
If The govmnt denies the AA/US merger, then they have a DUTY to reverse the DA/NW, UA/CO, SW/AT mergers. Remember the LAW cannot be partial or biased. And if this were the case, then the OIL co. should also be broken up. After all US, the American consumers, are affected by the price of oil more than any other commodity in this "FREE" market.
