I understand people living in ORD/MSP/IAH not wanting to do it but it seems like a good deal for people in west coast bases.
There are many cases where it doesn't make sense financially. For example, if you are a senior CRJ FO able to credit well over 100 hours/month (with 700/900 override) vs. sitting on reserve as a Bro CA, it would be a pretty big paycut. Throw in having to commute (and expenses associated with that), as well as the reserve suck factor, and I can see why a lot of people don't want to do it.
When I was a Brasilia FO, I flew with several CAs who told me they took a paycut coming to the Bro.
