Their batting average is not that good to stop a merger or otherwise. I have been doing a lot of reading on the subject. I could not find a good statistical total. But... It seems that the majority of the antitrust lawsuits (mergers & others) do not stop the merger or constitute a breakup. Most often the lawsuits are settled outside of the courtroom.
I suppose that is anecdotal evidence that the DOJ isn't involved in consumer protection, but instead is involved in negotiating the spoils on behalf of other elites.
