Military pilots going to the airline today probably graduated USAF UPT ten years ago. I believe that is the most recent committment after graduation. Here are the numbers of USAF pilots graduated between 1988 and 1998. There was a significant decrease. If ALL of the 1997 year pilots left the USAF today, there would be 682 pilots hired. I believe the % of pilots being hired by the airlines is SIGNIFICANTLY lower then 50% even considering USN statistics and military retirees who go to work for the airlines.

1,468
1,565
1,548
1,528
967
749
533
481
525
682
869
