SKYW doesnt have the pilots to cover all our flying and all those 175s arent going to come online for awhile yet. Shut it down if you want... good luck with that. I know I won't be going to "mainline". It'll be time to put the ole business degree to use.
Why did they buy what? SKW bought ASA because it was (then) a cash cow. We pumped a lot of money into SKW Inc. Then came the 2010 DAL "rate reset" where DAL gave ASA a 40% pay cut. No more profits. Then SKW bought XJT, claiming its "synergistic economies of scale" would save ASA. In reality, they wanted to corner the market on regional flying for The New United. They tossed a hail mary for an incomplete pass. Now they will shut this place down, and they will rehire everyone at SkyWest Mainline. I give this process 2-5 years.
