Good leadership will identify and motivate guys who are a good fit. And yes, there is still a place for leadership on the company's part.
I've flown with several LCAs who swore they would never do it. But when approached and mentored, they eventually accepted the position. To me, those guys generally have a better perspective than the folks begging for the job.
I agree. I flown with several guys who aren't check airmen (like Jughead)* and have no desire to do it, yet I think they would make great LCAs. And then sometimes I fly with one and wonder how in the hell he became one.
