Actually, many CEO's / owners dress very casually; both on the job and outside of it. The aircraft that I fly belongs to the owner and founder of a large company and he carries his belongings in a back-pack, and carries his skateboard wherever he goes. He gets funny looks in the executive terminals with everyone else in three piece suits. I think its great. I have come across many high profile people like this. I am not saying that pilots should dress this way, just making a comment about your statement. As far as back-packs go though, as long as it isn't flourscent and / or five different colors, I really don't see much of a problem with it. Its just a flight bag with an extra shoulder strap.
