Could be the older pilots are hanging on to the idea of wanting to project a professional, conservative, image to the public. Could be they don't think listening to an iPod in the cockpit isn't a very good idea (sign me up for that one).

Take your iPod or spiked hair to the interview. If you still get hired then I guess the image your airline wants to project is in line with your personal appearence.
