Crj Driver,
Congrats on the new job. I'm an IAH 756 reserve, so I welcome you to Houston. I know the snapshot is encouraging, but be sure you understand the issues with actually getting a training date with an ISL looming.
I get mostly IAH-LAX/SFO-Hawaii and transcons, with some EWR-MCO and LAX/SFO-ORD. Very little South America and the occasional Europe to cover EWR when they run out of reserves. There have been plenty of trips in open time if you like to fly. (That is, until this month it seems.)
I read all the CCS help files back when I started and while they have some good poop, they are dated. So if something doesn't make sense just push past it. The help file is probably showing you what the system used to do. The half day class on PBS you got in indoc doesn't quite cut it, either. The online videos are a neat idea and may have been valid once, but PBS has changed plenty and they are in dire need of a refresh. Heck, maybe they fixed them recently, but I am a little surprised more effort hasn't gone into an update with 600 L-UAL guys and 200 new hires in the last year or so.
Again, welcome aboard! My advice: Spend time clicking on every link in CCS and Flying together and you will find a lot of good info. Sorry there isn't much instruction on what's where. Change is constant right now when it comes to IT.
