The biggest reason that Xjet has been hiring for the last year or so is attrition... They havent gotten a new airplane since the last XR. CAL has been hiring 15-25 people a month from XJET. So 1/2 the new hires at XJet can look directly at CAL for their job. If CAL refused to take Xjet people (like me) you would still be flying an the SAAB... Oh I would be willing to bet you got hired after Colgan went through the big expansion when they signed on WITH CAL.

So now a little about me... I was at XJet for 2 years where I did my damnedest to learn as much as I could.. I am lucky enough to have some family connections (NOT SCABS) that were able to make things happen for me, and I was hired last April (just hit my year!!) And no I didnt have any turbine PIC! There I admitted it. It did take a little extra effort for me to gain the respect of those I flew with but I do my job to the best of my abilities and I dont spend every last breath bitching about what has occured before I go there or what I can;t do anything about. That being said my interview was fair and complete as was the sim eval. Training was a challenge but I feel that I did pretty well.

I know plenty of great folks who were at XJet that got the chance to come over to CAL and there are still great folks their who deserve their chance. I have done as much as I can to "Pay it forward" and I have helped some great people get over the hump. I also know of other folks whom have met the right people in the food court and the jump seat, and with the right attitude they got the push they needed to come over to CAL. Its all about attitude... If you have a good one it will take you far... You on the other hand might have troubles!

CAL isnt perfect... I'll be the first one to admit that first year pay sucks but next year I will make what I would have made as a 3rd year Xjet Capt. The health insurance is a big issue and needs to change. It is not a scab infested hell hole as some like to categorize us. I read back through my logs I have flown with a total of 4 scabs in a year. 3 of them were fine to fly with... yes they showed some crappy judgement in the past but if you are a professional you dont bring that issue into the cockpit.

Also after a year I am at 60% in the 737 EWR and get 15+ days off a month with 85-90 hours. Not to mention about 1/2 the weekends off. Life aint bad.

So Saab when you move out of high school and are in a position to move on I really hope you adjust your attitude or you will enjoy the chance to become a verrrrry senior RJ pilot. I also hope that you start to have a clue what you are talking about before you open your mouth.

Good luck Saab! I hope you find what you are looking for!

Wow 2 year at Express, you sure put in your time, I went to Rutgers...........

PS, you may be the F/O the CA was talking about.............relax ya animal.......................its an online forum
