+1. We are splitting hairs now about this logging time while the Captain is sleeping. I have seen a few, probably 3% of the guys I fly with actually put their names on the release and log the time.
We're falling into the rabbit hole on this, but...
We generally agree that FOs should never log this as PIC in their personal logbooks. (but hey, you wanna log it, be my guest)
However, the FOM requires the Relief PIC log the time and sign the release. Most of my flights on the 767 are under 8 hours, so it's a bit of a rare occurrence, but a check airman made such a fuss about this, I figured you guys do it all the time on the 747.
