If you are qualified for the company, the company should be able to put you on the 756/777 and use you as a resource...hence why its called "human resources." You shouldn't be hired under the impression that you can get by on one jet but can't yet handle another..... that sets a poor precedence.
I don't know how else to explain it to you......
Your right when CAL hired me they did so with the expectation that I would be able to successfully complete training on any aircraft. But I felt that the 737 would be the best place for me starting out... Having been on the airplane for a year now I like the QOL I am getting so I probably wont go any where for the short term but I would like to fly the 757 so I may go and do it in a year or so.
I felt transition from the RJ to the 737 really wasnt to bad... Theres a lot going on but it was a step from a 50,000 lb airplane to a 120-170,000lb airplane vs going to a 757/767/777 which has a very different mission and has more to adjust to than the 737. I have no doubt in my mind that I could have successfully completed 757 or 777 training but it would have been a tougher transition for me. That also being said 777 reserves really dont do anything and they have to go down to the sim every 90 days becasue they dont get their landings in. I would find it difficult to stay sharp when you are lucky to get a landing every month.
I hope that explains my thought process a little better...
It is not an issue of what "CAN" I do but where the best place it for me.
Oh and I have absolutely no ill will toward Xjet, I really enjoyed my time there, and I hope everything works out for the best it seems like the company there is spreading out the risk nicely so if something doesnt work as well as it should they can shift things around. I
