To expand on these a little:
- horrible scheduling
- unproductive pairings
On the airbus we see a lot of 3-day trips that pay 11-12hrs. You work an evening departure from BOS/JFK to the west coast, 24hrs off, then work the redeye back the next night. They are great for commuters, but horrible for pay since we don't have a rig for calendar days of a pairing.
Another least favorite airbus trip is the redeye turn to the Dominican Republic. You leave JFK/BOS around 9-10pm, land in the DR around 2-3am, turn around and fly back to base landing around 8-9am.
- autocratic management
They don't have any real counterbalance from labor, so they do what they want.
- terrible healthcare
2013 rates. ? Life is Better in Blue
- zero respect from managers, rampers, flight attendants gate agents because we are all equal
We are all referred to as "crew members" and there is no hierarchy where the Captain is the boss.
-really ugly uniforms
We look like TSA or Smurfs.
- terrible reserve policies
Honestly, I don't think our reserve system is as bad as some. But we use a bucket system of days of availability where seniority doesn't matter as much when getting assigned a short call period. It goes by who has flown the most hours so far for the month.
- no merger protection
- domestic codes sharing coming
We have no CBA. I wouldn't want to test our flimsy employment agreement up against a real CBA in a merger situation.
Should you come to jetblue? I think you should, as long as you come here willing to make changes to create a better place. jetblue is better than any regional, but worse than a legacy carrier. We would like to change that and be on par with places like DAL/UAL/AA.
