On the airbus we see a lot of 3-day trips that pay 11-12hrs. You work an evening departure from BOS/JFK to the west coast, 24hrs off, then work the redeye back the next night. They are great for commuters, but horrible for pay since we don't have a rig for calendar days of a pairing.
Another least favorite airbus trip is the redeye turn to the Dominican Republic. You leave JFK/BOS around 9-10pm, land in the DR around 2-3am, turn around and fly back to base landing around 8-9am.
I haven't looked through Part 117 much lately, but will these turns be eliminated once it kicks in? Or will they have to augment them? I wonder if carriers will start augmenting West Coast turns?
Thoughts???
