We got an email yesterday from the union:

A potential contract violation was discovered during a recent review of ExpressJet CRJ health insurance data. You should be aware that our contract limits the percentage of health and dental premiums that a pilot is responsible for to 30%. Section 28.A.3. reads:

“A pilot will not be required to contribute more than thirty percent (30%) of the cost of coverage under the Group Medical plan and/or Group Dental Plan.”
A review of the 2013 PPO premiums shows that the pilots are paying 36% of the total monthly premiums. By our estimates, the pilots on the PPO plan are being required to overpay their monthly premiums by the following amounts:

SINGLE - $20.94/month
2-PARTY - $49.88/month
FAMILY - $62.69/month

Based on the current number of pilots enrolled in these plans, it appears the Company will have overcharged the pilots in the PPO $559,810 by year’s end. Perhaps what is most disappointing is the PPO monthly premiums actually went down from 2012 to 2013, but The Company assumed those savings and increased the pilots’ monthly premiums as well. The MEC is preparing a group grievance on the pilots’ behalf.
Wow. Just wow. The company knowingly STOLE from us. If they didn't realize they were overcharging us last year when the new premiums came out, they're criminally incompetent. They knew it, they just figured we wouldn't notice. and our inept union almost let them get away with it too, not bothering to do an audit for 11 months. At least we know how they paid for Brads raise now.

Take heed anyone considering coming here. This is how they treat us. This is how little they value their employees. Stay far, far away from this sinking ship.
