I am currently applying for an internship at AA and was informed that they just, in early Jan., cut-out all jump seating privileges to interns. The FAA told them they don't want college students in the cockpits. The intern coordinator informed me that this was for the Southwest region. A couple of weeks later a friend of mine got an internship at Airtran and was told he could expect jump seating privileges. So why would they just cut it for the SW region and, if true, could i expect it to return to normal before the Fall? Any help is appreciated.
