This is not the right forum to talk about paying for a type rating. Try www.pprune.org It is the biggest pilot forum in the world at the moment, you will find tons of information how to obtain a cheap type rating. This forum is mostly for US pilots and in US you usally get picked up by the airlines and airlines pay type rating for you. But if you are talking of the international market then yes, the operator USUALLY don't sponser you a TR, you have to pay it yourself and the downside is that some companies require 500 time on type THAT IS THE MAGIC NUMBER. There are few cheap places in Florida (miami) that offer A320 TR around 10k. I suggest you do a search on google and find out the name.
