I don't know what's so surprising. I asked a major pilot long ago what is the best airline to work for and his answer was the one that hires you. If DAL is the best, that's great and maybe it's true but as everyone knows it's mostly about seniority and QOL and you have to get hired first. The SSP is practically meaningless without substance and had no or little play in voting.
