The last class did not have direct entry captains. All the captains in that class were either 1. Transition or 2. Returning from military or medical loa. As a matter a fact there was a guy with several years of Saab captain experience that is an FO here at silver. Everyone may now stop getting their panties in a wad and enjoy their weekends.
I was that guy (former Mesaba, etc). There was also a former Colgan Saab guy in my class. And 2 other new hires. The rest were Silver transitions and returns as said. As for my story- My sim partner was sent home right before #6 sim. My checkride was rescheduled to after LOFT so instructor could fill in right seat and so FAA could observe to sign off Silver's check airman. I live by MSP so I had my car. Since my ride was re-scheduled and I had to get car back home I couldn't make the Silver booked flight to FLL. I called that next morning to explain. The FAA had my paperwork for the check airman sign off and since I was typed already I had nothing to turn in at FLL. I was told I would be called back to schedule IOE. In the mean time FLICA showed I was awarded Beech-1900 captain in BFD (after many deletions and manipulations by the company). After Labour Day I got a call to talk about scheduling IOE. I asked about how that would work since I wanted to go to my awarded Beech-1900 upgrade class. I was transferred to Knapp. He said I was seat-locked for a year. I didn't think thatwas right and I looked in the contract. There is NO seat-lock in the case of a upgrade. I wrote back that I wanted the upgrade or I quit. I was happy to come here and start over as an FO, but if I was by some miracle of Silver's FLICA manipulation awarded captain I wanted it. I recieved no reply. Instead I was scheduled for a trip on the other side of the country starting the next morning without my knowledge. Now I look like the bad guy, which I think was the whole idea since Silver needs warm bodies in the right seat of the Saab, not Beech-1900 captains. I typing on a new phone. Sorry if this reads like crap. Anyway, watch out for yourselves with this bidding. I suspect much foul play.
