If it pays better and/or its more fun, then yes.
Perhaps they'd like to try their hand at landing a heavy jet or crossing the big water. If only to say they did it.
And one more thing that puzzles me:
Maybe I've led a sheltered life but I've never experienced or quite understood the "yanking gear" epithet or the whole notion of first officers being somehow vastly inferior to captains.
Delta has a ton of guys who could easily hold captain but choose to remain first officers for a whole variety of reasons. And some of them make significantly more money than many captains.
I've been around here for many years (most of them as F/O) and I've never felt disrespected or somehow unworthy because I wasn't a captain.
There are no "gearb*tches" at Delta.
That must be a cultural thing from other airlines.
