I'd say it really depends on what you want to do later in life. If your goal is to go to a major air carrier, it would be very difficult to get in without being former military or regional from what I've experienced and been told. With airlines, the earlier you get in, the better your life is. If you are on the back end of a hiring swing, "hello reserve" for a long time. Not mention always getting the last choice of anything in bids. The longer you wait, the lower your seniority will ultimately be when you retire, which means lower pay and quality of life. But if you're not sure if you really want to airlines, regionals might not be a good idea. First year can be really tough.

Just my thoughts. Hope all goes well whatever you do.
