Let me spell it out for you. The more people that keep coming here, the less likely we are to get a contract. I don't have a bad attitude, you are assuming things. Just the other day I had a new guy in my jump seat complaining about the company, and I asked him if he had looked at the union website and he said yes. So I then asked him if this place was as bad as advertised, he said yes again. So what makes you think that your experience is going to be any different coryk? I was on reserve for 2 years, fly the 170 in base, I have weekends off and life is great. BUT the ONLY leverage we have on this management is helping educate the public on why not to come here right now. It's a union thing...something a young CFI would not get because you have probably never been part of one...or you might get it.
I want a new contract, I want to be paid fairly, so if educating people and telling them to go to other airlines that are hiring makes me bitter or have a bad attitude, then so be it. But if you decide to make the ignorant decision to come here, then don't complain later. You have been warned. Once we get a fair and deserving contract, I will have no problem with people coming here. So I hope I have made my point clear. If it makes me seem like a jerk, sorry, but I would like to make a fair wage for the people that I haul around the country. I came here before things got ugly, and I am trying to help make it better. I can't just pack up and leave, it is NOT that easy. We are paying our dues, YES, but if I am going to pay, then the company has to pay just as much. And they are NOT. They know it, and we know it. It is airline politics and labor problems.
So to summarize...THIS MANAGEMENT WILL NOT GIVE US A FAIR CONTRACT UNTIL THEY CAN NOT RECRUIT PILOTS. Until then, the beatings will continue, the union busting will continue, my junk wages will continue. I don't HATE my job, I HATE this 10 year old, outdated contract. Everyone has gotten new contracts (good and bad) in the past few years, it is our turn now!
