Ditto. I was unemployed for nine months after being furloughed from an ACMI until I got my current gig. 8000+ hours with a mix of military rotary-wing and C-12, Part 135, fractional, the aforementioned ACMI and now with an ULCC. Lots of type ratings but actually not much PIC time.
I applied last year the day the window opened, then went to the ORD job fair to apply in person, then updated in the winter, and went to the job fair in LAS in April to see them once more. They seemed particularly impressed that I came back again. I was disappointed when the window closed later. After it reopened I was all set to put in an update when I got the call. So perseverance appears to have paid off.
It seems evident to me that Atlas is drawing from a diverse mix of backgrounds and experience levels. Don't lose heart; keep trying and your motivation will reap rewards. Good luck!
