I am a L-UAL guy. I have never been to CO IAH training. However, DTK, has been contractually prohibited to do back side of the clock training for decades. It has nothing to do with who's training is better. It also has nothing to do with long-haul or red-eye flights.
The principals of learning have been established for centuries and how human beings learn optimally. You cannot conduct effective training when the mind is tired. Learning and flying once qualified, are two separate things.
If IAH trains back side of the clock, this is bad, and needs to be changed. I also suspect that it is actually costing UAL money in the long run because of ineffective training.
Bottom line is, UAL TK, flight ops, safety, all need to listen to ALPA. We may whine a lot, but the things we do are there for a reason, and doesn't seem to be understood by the bean counter weanies at HQ. Also, taking the FSI program and bastardizing it as a CP punitive tool is not the way to encourage good co-workers.
Is that enough to start with?
