Possible advice (you may know this already): With a little experience, most pilots can watch someone fly and tell them what they did wrong. That's not really instructing.
In addition to explaining how to do a particular task before they try it (which is a challenge in itself), your job is also to find out
why they made the mistake after. You'll only be able to do that if you spend some time asking your student questions (like having
them explain the task that was executed poorly). Once you know why they made the error, you can provide appropriate instruction on how to correct it.
