I'm trying to jumpseat tomorrow on United. I have done so in the past but I have a question about the dress code.

When you fill out the form at the gate, it mentions you need to be in uniform or be in business attire with a tie. So last time I went, it was for leisure but I wore my uniform for this reason. When the crew asked if I was going to work, I told them that I wasn't but the form stated the specific dress code. They didn't believe me until I actually showed it to them.

However on the ALPA website under the United page, it states "Uniform or business casual attire is required."

So I was just wondering if there are any United guys out there that can clear this up for me. When you have a pilot not in uniform, are they in business casual or are they wearing a tie?

Thanks in advance!
