Girls, girls, girls, you are all pretty, now quit sniping. JohnnyG, I totally get how frustrating it is, and I agree that it is quite unbecoming for a regional airline to employ hostility in an interview. However, it may also be a matter of perception; SkyWest is a good place to work and I am incredibly happy here, but my interviewers did play a bit of bad-cop/good-cop in my HR/Tech interview. Why? Probably to see if I'd flip my lid when stressed out. If I hadn't gotten the job, I'd most likely still see it as a bad experience with a couple of jerks. Is it fair? Well, American and Delta demand an astronaut physical, just because they can. Why are you on this board? If it is to get helpful tips that will aid your successful employment at SkyWest, you better pay attention; everyone is telling you to clean up the negative attitude, yet you persist. Our guys seem hyper-sensitive because we know what it takes, and we don't look kindly on people who talk smack and act entitled, because we DON'T WANT TO FLY WITH THOSE KIND OF PEOPLE. Perhaps you don't intend to come across that way, so if that is the case let me apologize. Those of us who offer advice here don't need the job, we already have it, but we like to mentor and help others coming up the ranks.
Bear in mind that CE told your flight school OVER A YEAR AGO that there wasn't much need for flight instructors. A lot changes in a matter of months here, much less a year. Ask yourself what might be in your profile that might make you less attractive as a hire, and quit blaming companies for passing you over based on your time. We hire the person, not the resume, the person who is going to be an active and useful crew member when the poop hits the fan rather than the lump in the right seat, and some of our best people come to us totally green... I've had more issues with ex-Lakers and Colgan pilots who come in here with bad habits and poor attitudes, I'll take an eager CFI as my FO any day of the week and twice on Sunday. Check your application over, update it and re-submit. I hope we do give you the chance to prove yourself, and I hope for your sake that the way you come across here is only anonymous internet bravado and not your true self.
