Look...yankee or not...please learn how to spell southern style. It`s y`all, not ya`ll. The contraction is to eliminate the "ou' in "you all". Y`all is a corruption of ole English "ye all" as spoken by early Scottish settlers to the South, my ancestors included. Y`all is always plural, speaking to more than three people, would be addressed as, "all y`all". End of lesson.
Well you must've gone to public skool then. The official spelling (again in East Tennessee) is ya'll.. and the plural is - all ya'll.
