Peak, if it helps I am leaving the cushy 60K engineering job to get back in a plane. As easy as my current job is, I still get stressed out spending 40+ hours a week in a small office with no windows.
DejaVu. That was me in 2007, left my cushy $65k engineering job in Denver to work at a flight school in FL. I don't regret it, and don't see ever working in an office again unless I have to.
But there are people that want or even need the stability and routine of that engineering office job. If you are wanting to start a family soon, or not be forced to move from home, or don't want to work on holidays, you need to really think about doing this. That being said, I am a lineholder at SkyWest and have half the month off. I take a lot of vacations and have a lot less stress in my life now. I also have no debt. It was a pretty easy decision for me!
