For what it's worth, I searched the archives and found this in an older thread:
The 12.5K GW requirement applies for any aircraft type which has at least one model in the aircraft line above 12.5K GW. For example, flight hours in a King Air 90 which has a GW of 9K would count because the King Air also has versions (King Air 200 and above) that have max GW above 12.5K.
That would specifically apply to the T-44...however, if you look at the application for FedEx, selecting T-44s in the drop-down menu will automatically save your time under the option of less than 12,500k.
So I guess the million dollar question is where it truly falls under. Old gouge or "glitch" in the new system/rules? Or the cynical option...no soup for you.
