It may be like the logging of PIC time that is discussed so often on the forum.
The FAA allows sole manipulator to be logged, yet certain airline only recognize the time that you actually *signed* for the aircraft.

I don't know which thread you got the information you posted from and the context, but maybe FedEx just doesn't recognize the same category similarities on their application.
