so my post was clearly not meant to start the mil vs civilian debate again, its a tired old debate that really doesn't go anywhere, so im sorry for making the thread go off track... someone had asked what peoples backgrounds were who have gotten a call so far. The ones I know who have just happen to be all mil, and all IP/EP.

I don't think mil or civ has anything to do with how good a pilot is, but I would guess the reason why a lot of mil guys get calls is because they can check the TPIC, Instructor, Evaluator, Safety Officer, etc boxes much more often than pilots with 121 backgrounds. Has nothing to do with how good of a stick they are. So when you have 10 or 20 thousand resumes on file, the more boxes you check, the better that probably looks for getting noticed in the stack. I would think that a regional check airman has the same advantage as a military IP in that they get to check the same box. However, its hard to become a check airman and its very selective. Almost every military pilot that comes out after their commitment is up or has retired, is or has been an IP at some point.
