Despite my own sad story, with good financial planning, I plan to retire at 60. I will not have 25 years with the company. I DO NOT WANT TO FLY PAST THAT AGE! If you REALLY need the money, I recommend you retire and get a real job. If you are smart enough to get this job, then you have skills an employer would want. You could take home a bunch more pay at the end of the month ...

Lets see sad story...........Made WB capt at early Age. Happens to to be lucky enough...........KNOCK on WOOD, Knock on wood , Knock on wood...................to be working at Fedex where things are pretty stable and the future is positive.............
What if your A-Plan was wiped out tomorrow? ( Give Fred and the MGT boys a few more years to figure out how to do it)
Would you still want or really be able retire at 60 and take your $27,000 annual PBGC pension (assuming that it will still be there when you are 60) or would you just maybe want to make your 6 figure income for a couple more years?
What if you needed to go on LT disability for the next 4 years. When you come back that was 4 years your B-plan saw nothing..Do you already have your High 5?..........would that have any effect..................
What if one of your trusty FO's bends your jet and you find yourself unemployed? and you need to start over and be Junior to Gman at Jet Blue (God forbid)
There are alot of variables out there Mark.........Don't try to lump everyone in the same Pile. The Actual # of Pilots who have a full Pension coming (not one from the PBGC) and 25 years or more with the " same" company that want to continue working past 60 is pretty small by comparison.
