They have all of the L-Cal fleets set at max for staffing because they don't want to pay pilots the higher 2nd year pay on that said fleet. For instance, back in 2005-2006 we had new hires going into the 777. That was all fine and dandy until 2nd year pay came into effect and then the accountants had a fit.
There will probably be a few opening for L-UAL pilots to get into on something other than a 737, "guppy", or "light twin" as I call it. It'll just take a few more of these new vacancy bids that come out every month. Patience is the key folks.
I'd say within 3 years every
pre-merger pilot will have an opportunity to be in the fleet that they want to be in (
that's fleet, not seat), with all of the upcoming retirements.
