I think SkyHigh makes valid points. It all boils down to what you want in life. There are tradeoff's in any career, and some guys figure out early the dues pilots pay are not equal to the rewards.
My main point is that we can have anything we want in life but not everything. An aviation career demands more of ones life resources than it can possibly return. Some might accept that. Others have larger dreams, needs and expectations.
