True, things aren't always perfect. I am happy with the career decisions I've made because I made each one carefully with the best information I had at the time. While I certainly wish I was at the top of a flow-through list, I am happy with my efforts and I hope they pay off at some point either way.
To be sure, I understand why Delta pilots care about who their fellow pilots are. I also understand not being happy about the way in which the SSP was negotiated.
If there is a redeeming quality, Delta gets full access to one's employee record, which is what now? A decade plus of part 121 flying, which must include captain time? To my mind, that person is no longer an unknown quantity proving themself in the matter of a one day interview. I imagine there will be more programs like this industry wide in short time, as well.
I really wish there was less animosity between pilot groups, and instead more reaching out between regionals and between mainline pilots with their connection pilots.
