I'd do the 135 thing if it pays well and gives you a schedule you want.
That's what I did until I hit 5000 tt and then applied to some airlines I wanted to work for. I had 1500 pic jet (all light Ga aircraft). I chose the 135 route vs. the 121 regional route. It payed more in the beginning and it offered more at the time to me (qol).
